PHILIPPINE EMBASSY ADVISORY HURRICANE IDALIA

The Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. advises Filipino communities along the path of Hurricane Idalia to monitor the movement of the storm, undertake all necessary preparations, and heed the warnings of local officials as it strengthened into a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph.

Hurricane Idalia is forecasted to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday, and officials are warning it could turn into a Category 3 storm.

There are approximately 160,000 individuals of Filipino origin in Florida.

The Embassy will continue to monitor developments and coordinate with the Filipino and Filipino-American communities in these areas.
