WASHINGTON, D.C. – On March 14, 2024, Representative Bienvenido “Benny” M. Abante engaged in a dynamic town hall meeting at the Embassy of the Philippines, connecting with members of the Filipino community from both the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and the Caribbean.
The meeting with Representative Abante, who chairs the House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights, coincided with his participation in the 2nd Annual Conference of the Global Council for Political Renewal.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to address the community, Representative Abante stated, “I am honored to be here and to hear your concerns. Your care for our kababayan in the Philippines is deeply appreciated.”
During the gathering, Representative Abante underscored his commitment to various legislative initiatives, including the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 (Republic Act 9994) and the recently enacted Expanded Centenarians Act (Republic Act 11982), signed into law by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. Serving as the District Representative for the 6th District of Manila, Philippines, he remains dedicated to serving his constituents.
The town hall meeting facilitated discussions on a wide range of topics, spanning healthcare, education, charter change, and economic development. Representative Abante actively listened to community concerns and provided valuable insights on legislative avenues for support.
Prior to the town hall meeting, Representative Abante held discussions with officials of the Philippine Embassy to explore collaborative opportunities and discuss the latest developments in Philippines-U.S. relations. ###
