WASHINGTON, D.C. – 19- 22 August 2021. The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. conducted a consular outreach mission at the Margaritaville Beach Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. During the 4-day mission, 519 passport renewal applications were processed, and 548 overseas voters were registered. The Philippine Overseas Labor Office of the Philippine Embassy, Washington DC also joined the mission and was able to verify employment contracts and renew the OWWA membership of the Filipino workers in this island nation in the Caribbean.

The Honorary Consul-designate in the Bahamas, Dr. Leo M. Ignacio and members of the Filipino community in the Bahamas extended their assistance to ensure the success of the mission.

There are around 1,700 Filipinos in the Bahamas working in various industries to include hospitality, ship repair, household service, health, accounting, and education. ###
