Officials of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) conducted a learning visit to strengthen the Philippines’ Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) capacities through international collaborations, including with the United States.

The OCD delegation chose the United States for the visit as opportunities exist for mutual learning and cooperation in disaster management between the two countries. Future collaboration could involve knowledge-sharing, technical assistance, capacity-building programs, and joint initiatives to address common challenges in disaster preparedness and response.

Officials of the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Maryland Department of Emergency Management and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management briefed the group about their respective agency’s work. ###
