In line with the Embassy’s efforts to improve the delivery of dual citizenship services, the following changes in the processing and administering of oath to applicants shall be implemented as follows:
- Effective 01 November 2019, the Embassy will process applications and administer the oath of allegiance to dual citizenship applicants four times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday).
All applicants processed from 9:00am to 10:30am and whose documents are found in order will take their oath on the same day at 3:00pm. The new system will allow applicants to complete their application in one day.
Moreover, all applicants are advised to come prepared with the complete requirements to avoid being rejected. The complete list of requirements is available on the website at https://newphembassy.wpengine.com/dual-citizenship/.
- As part of the transition, effective 15 October 2019, the Embassy shall no longer accept dual citizenship applications by mail from applicants who intend to take their oath in Washington D.C. All applications received in the mail after 15 October will not be processed.
