WASHINGTON D.C. –Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel G. Romualdez drew focus to security challenges faced by the Philippines at the Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum (PI-SF) held in Washington DC from 4 to 5 December 2024.
“For the Philippines, one security issue has been top of mind at all levels: that of the South China Sea. From our President down to our fisherfolk and coastal communities, all Filipinos are acutely aware of the dire implications should rising tensions continue unchecked in this most important waterway,” he said.
Ambassador Romualdez also highlighted the important role of parliamentarians in international cooperation on security issues.
On 4 December 2025, Ambassador Romualdez hosted a special opening reception for the PI-SF at the Chancery Annex of the Philippine Embassy.
Also in attendance at the PI-SF, representing the Philippines, were Deputy Speakers Raymond Democrito Mendoza and Antonio “Tonypet” Albano.
The Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum is a US-led forum promoting international cooperation and understanding of global security threats among parliamentarians and government officials.
The Philippine House of Representatives will host the next PI-SF in Manila in February 2025.###
