WASHINGTON, D.C., 02 September 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C., together with the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle, confirms that Mr. Loreto Javar, a Filipino national residing in Washington State, has obtained temporary liberty on recognizance following his release by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), pending the resolution of his deportation proceedings. Mr. Javar left the ICE detention facility on the condition that he report to ICE for his scheduled deportation hearings.
Since being made aware of Mr. Javar’s case, the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle has extended consular assistance to him and his family, including welfare monitoring and close coordination with the relevant authorities. Prior to his release, the Consulate General raised his case directly with ICE, including a request for consideration on humanitarian and medical grounds.
This case reflects the constructive and dynamic working relationship between the Philippine Embassy and Philippine Consulates General in the United States with U.S. authorities, including the Department of Homeland Security, which allows Philippine consular posts to engage effectively on behalf of Filipino nationals in U.S. custody while respecting US laws and immigration procedures.
The Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle will continue to monitor developments and ensure that Mr. Javar’s rights and medical welfare are fully protected.
