The Philippines featured as the country of honor during the 15th Annual Ambassador’s Ball of the Allegro Foundation, held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, benefiting children with disabilities.

In his remarks, Philippine Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez emphasized the spirit of selflessness and generosity of the Foundation, and enjoined the more than 220 attendees to give back: “It is extremely important for all of us to remember that a blessing is much more meaningful when one could share their good fortune with others.”

In support of the charitable activities of the Foundation, the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C., in cooperation with the Philippine Department of Tourism – New York office, provided a signature trip to the Philippines for two persons as the grand prize for auction during the Ball.

The trip will bring the lucky winners on a week-long visit to Manila, Boracay, and Batangas, courtesy of sponsors Philippine Airlines, Okada Manila, Seda Manila, Movenpick Resort and Spa Boracay, The Farm at San Benito, Sharp Travel Service, and Southwest Tours.

Guests were also treated to a sampling of Philippine culture through jeepney and kalesa table gifts, coconut and ube spread pouches from US-based food company Fila Manila Filipino American Kitchen, and “Love the Philippines” tourism brochures from DOT.

A performance by children beneficiaries of Allegro to the song “A Million Dreams” highlighted the meaningful evening.

The Allegro Foundation is a non-profit organization headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, providing free education programs to over 800 children living with disabilities in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina and York County, South Carolina communities. The Ambassador’s Ball is the main fundraising activity of the Foundation, honoring a different Ambassador to the US every year. ###
