WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) of the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC, conducted a three-day service caravan from 5 to 7 December 2025 in Bermuda. The caravan was held at the Wesley Methodist Church in Hamilton, Bermuda and benefitted 402 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Labor Attaché Saul De Vries said that among those who availed of MWO-OWWA services, 348 OFWs sought to have their employment contracts verified while 323 applied for OWWA membership or renewal. Verified contracts are required for the issuance of OFW Passes or exit clearances, while OWWA membership enables OFWs to access social benefits provided by the agency.
The three-day caravan was capped by the celebration of the 2025 OFW Family Day on 7 December 2025 at the Bermuda Athletics Association Gym. There were 207 OFWs and members of their families who joined the event, which featured the Galing Mo, OFW! competition highlighting exceptional talents of OFWs in this north Atlantic island.
The OFW Family Day is observed every December since 2003 to honor OFWs and strengthen family ties. Welfare Officer Mae Codilla said that that it was the first time that the celebration was held in Bermuda. Aside from the talent competition, the event also featured song and dance performances from the members of the Filipino community. Sixty-four (64) OFWs went home with raffle prizes donated by OWWA.
Both the caravan and the celebration were organized in partnership with the Association of Filipinos in Bermuda (FAB) under the leadership of Mr. Ryan de Jesus.
