WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) of the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC conducted an Information and Service Caravan for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on November 30 to December 1, 2024 at the FilCom Center in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).
Welfare Officer Mae Codilla led the MWO Team and reported that 243 OFWs availed of the services of MWO and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) during the two-day caravan. A total of 94 employment contracts were verified and released while 142 OFWs enrolled in OWWA. A verified employment contract is a requirement for the issuance of OFW Pass or exit clearance for vacationing OFWs in the Philippines who are returning to their jobsites, while OWWA membership entitles OFWs to various social benefits being provided by the said government agency.
The information and service caravan also included the virtual participation of the Social Security System, PhilHealth and PAG-IBIG Fund. A total of 46 OFWs availed of the virtual one-stop shop services.
The 2-day caravan was undertaken in partnership with the Filipino Community of the Turks and Caicos Islands. END
