WASHINGTON D.C. – Newly assigned Tourism Attachés Ms. Maria Corazon Jorda-Apo of the Philippine Department of Tourism Office in New York (PDOT-NY) and Mr. Gerard Panga of the Philippine Department of Tourism Office in Los Angeles (PDOT-LA) paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Jose Manuel G. Romualdez on 02 May 2025 as part of their participation in the 2025 Passport DC – Around the World Embassy Tour festivities. Ms. Jorda-Apo was accompanied by Ms. Katherine Alcantara and Ms. Bettina Gorriceta.
During the meeting, Ms. Jorda-Apo and Mr. Panga presented their individual and joint strategic promotional plans tailored towards enticing the younger generations of both the Filipino-American diaspora and mainstream young travel adventurers to fully enjoy the emerging Philippine tourism destinations and experiences, with the goal of enhancing inbound tourism to the country.
This comes right when Philippine-US tourism relations continue to develop with a recent Philippine Airlines and Alaska Airlines partnership, increasing American travellers to the Philippines despite slumps in international tourism, and the inclusion once again of Philippine beaches in numerous international lists and collective recommendations by globally trusted travel experts and professionals.
Amb. Romualdez expressed his continued support for the overall tourism initiatives and plans, reaffirming the Embassy’s commitment to fostering stronger tourism ties between the United States and the Philippines. ###
