WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Philippine Embassy co-organized a fireside chat with the Executive Council on Diplomacy (ECD) on 28 January 2025, aimed at helping the diplomatic community understand and navigate the new US administration.

The event, entitled “What to Expect from the 2025 U.S. Presidential Transition”, drew around 35 participants and featured Brookings Institution experts Michael O’Hanlon and Kathryn Dunn Tenpas, who shared insights on the new administration’s approaches to the transition as well as to foreign policy.

The participants, composed of ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and business community representatives, also engaged the speakers in a lively discussion on transition procedures, presidential appointments, and US foreign policy priorities in Europe and the Indo-Pacific, among other topics. 

The Executive Council on Diplomacy (ECD) is a Washington-based organization that fosters understanding among foreign diplomats and Americans for respective countries’ institutions, policies and cultures. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez sits on the Ambassadors Advisory Board of the ECD.###
