WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Philippine Embassy hosted its first virtual town hall of the year on 13 February 2025, bringing together the Filipino community for an informative discussion on its essential services. The town hall, held via Zoom and Facebook, featured Consul General Donna Rodriguez and Labor Attaché Saul De Vries.

During the town hall, Consul General Rodriguez provided updates on the Embassy’s latest initiatives to enhance its delivery of services, such as the adoption of an e-payment system, the improvement of its consular website, and the new appointment system. The Consul General also apprised the public of the lineup of its consular outreach program, and the important changes in the mode of voting for the 2025 National Elections.

Labor Attaché De Vries discussed the programs and services of the Migrant Workers Office, such as employment contract verification, employer accreditation, and welfare assistance. In addition, the Labor Attaché gave valuable insights into the latest labor regulations and activities for Filipino workers in the United States and the Caribbean.

In his opening remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Jaime Ramon Ascalon, Jr. underscored the importance of the town hall session on the Embassy’s services.  “We recognize that these services are not just transactions—they are lifelines for our community. Whether it’s ensuring that families can reunite, that our overseas workers are protected, or that businesses and cultural exchanges continue to thrive, our work at the Embassy is ultimately about serving the people,” he said.
