WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Philippine Embassy in Washington DC hosted a virtual town hall meeting on 03 February 2026 to engage with Filipino community leaders from across the Caribbean.

The town hall, which brought together 35 community leaders from various Caribbean countries and territories, provided an opportunity to directly hear about the conditions and different concerns of Filipino community members. There are more than 10,000 Filipinos living and working in the Caribbean.

During the town hall, the leaders were updated on various community programs and services of the Consular Section and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO-DC). They thanked the Embassy for the close coordination and strong relationship that enabled the fast provision of assistance to Filipinos in distress. They also expressed appreciation for the consular outreach missions and field voting held by the Embassy, as well as the community caravans of the MWO-DC.

In 2025, the Embassy provided consular services to an unprecedented 12 countries and territories in the Caribbean, visiting the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. More than 700 consular documents were processed during these missions, ensuring that overseas Filipinos have the identification and travel documents necessary for their work in the Caribbean.

“Our top priority in the Caribbean is to promote and protect the broad interests of our Filipino nationals and uphold migrant welfare and protection” said Consul General Donna Rodriguez. “We look forward to working even more closely with each and every community leader to serve our people better.”

The Embassy remains dedicated to enhancing its engagement with the Filipino community in the Caribbean through regular check-ins and events that promote OFW rights, health, and welfare. Future town halls and initiatives are planned to ensure continuous collaboration.
