Washington, D.C. – The Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. welcomed the candidates to the 2nd Ms. & Mrs. Tourism USA for a courtesy call on 11 September 2024. This meeting gave the candidates and organizers an opportunity to engage with Embassy officials and highlight their various advocacies and programs on social and civic causes. It also underscored the Embassy’s ties with the local community and its support towards amplifying advocacies for social causes such as women’s empowerment, education, and cultural preservation.
Consul General Donna M. Rodriguez met with the candidates, many of whom are from the Filipino-American community, and expressed her admiration for their dedication to meaningful work, noting that their involvement in the pageant demonstrates not only beauty but also a commitment to making a positive impact in their own communities. The candidates, representing different regions and backgrounds, shared their individual advocacies ranging from women’s empowerment and education to environmental preservation and mental health awareness. The delegation was headed by Ms. Janet Hixson Cersley, National Director of the Mrs. America Tourism Travel Foundation Incorporated.
