WASHINGTON, D.C. – PH Ambassador H.E. Manuel Jose Romualdez welcomed the keen interest in increasing bilateral agricultural cooperation during the call of Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen (R-NE) ahead of the visit by a trade delegation led by Governor Pillen to the Philippines on 25-30 July 2026.

Governor Pillen recalled the US-PH alliance and shared that Nebraska is open for business with allies such as the Philippines. With a strong agricultural background, he identified possible cooperation on poultry productivity, higher-value ethanol production, feed-lot production, bio-fuels, and animal genetics business. He believed that Nebraska, with its advanced pork genetics program, can help the Philippines recover from the recent African swine flu outbreak.

Ambassador Romualdez said that a robust agricultural sector combined with a robust tourism program, in cooperation with partners, has a strong potential to enhance the country’s economic sectors toward the mutual benefit of the US and PH. He also believes that Nebraska should continue to deepen cooperation with the Philippines, particularly in the poultry and sugarcane sectors.
