Committed to leaving no Filipino behind, the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC recently brought consular services to the Filipino communities in the U.S. Virgin Islands and, for the first time, Anguilla.
The consular outreach mission was held on 25 July 2025 in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and 27 July 2025 in Anguilla. The three-person consular team assisted around 80 Filipinos in renewing their Philippine passports, reacquiring their Philippine citizenship, and registering their children’s birth. An estimated 150 Filipinos live in St. Thomas and Anguilla.
In the U.S. Virgin Islands, more than 20 Filipinos from St. Thomas and neighboring islands availed themselves of consular services. This marked the Embassy’s return to St. Thomas since its outreach in 2019, enabling Filipinos who had faced challenges during the pandemic to renew their passports.
Meanwhile, in Anguilla, the Embassy made its first-ever consular outreach, marking a milestone in its efforts to reach Filipinos in the British overseas territory. Almost 50 Filipinos were served during the activity, including Filipinos who traveled from Sint Maarten and Saint Martin to take advantage of the available consular services. The Embassy team also took the opportunity to engage with members of the Filipino community and Filipino-owned businesses, and check on the working and living conditions of Filipinos on the island.
“We are proud to finally bring essential government services to our overseas Filipinos in Anguilla,” said Ambassador Romualdez. “We at the Philippine Embassy remain committed to ensuring that our kababayan in the Caribbean are supported in practical and meaningful ways.”
