SOUSA 6TH GRADERS LOVE THE PHILIPPINES UNDER EMBASSY ADOPTION PROGRAM

Sousa Middle School’s 6th graders officially “took off” on Flight 1954 to the Philippines as part of the Embassy Adoption Program (EAP) SY 2025–2026 on 05 January 2026. The EAP is a partnership program between embassies in DC, DC Public Schools (DCPS), and the Washington Performing Arts that allows 5th- and 6th–grade students the unique opportunity to expand their global awareness through direct interactions with diplomats from around the world.

On 05 and 24 February 2026, 60 Sousa students engaged with Consul and Sentro Rizal Administrator Mark Dominic E. Lim to learn about the Philippines’ history, culture, traditions, and viral trends – while underscoring 80 years of Philippines–U.S. diplomatic ties. Students also enjoyed a variety of Filipino treats, from sweet mango and calamansi juice to ube and pandan cupcakes, buttered cream crackers, and soft, fluffy mamon.
